We are looking for someone who would like to sing in our Friendly Voices Choir on Wednesdays from 2pm to 3pm. Trail Steward at Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit Do you have a favorite trail that you enjoy walking, horseback riding, biking, or skiing? We could use your eyes and ears to help us keep alert to maintenance needs and unique natural happenings on “your trail.” Volunteers sign up for a trail or a specific trail loop on which to be a Trail Steward. They let the staff at the Ice Age Visitor Center know if there are maintenance needs like downed trees or vandalized signs. They inform the staff what flowers are blooming, what birds/ animals were sighted, and what other unique finds were found. This information is posted at the Ice Age Visitor Center. Compassionate Care Team (Bedside Vigil) with Compassus Hospice Compassionate Care Team consists of “on-call” volunteers that provide bedside support to our patients with their calming presence during the final days and hours of life. Volunteers can read, pray, hold their hand and just “be there” for our patients” during the final hours/days of life. These volunteers are needed when there is very limited or no family presence. No one should die alone. Opportunities become available throughout Sheboygan County though you can designate certain locales to serve. This position is as needed. When someone is in the last days of life, the coordinator would contact you to ask if you have any availability to help. We realize you have other things in your life and it is always OK to say no. Patients are either in their home, nursing home or other care facility. This is an ongoing opportunity. Volunteers should be 18 and older. Training is provided. Requires persons who can demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect. Good communications skills are necessary.
