ROBERT T. MEYER

Robert T. Meyer, age 88, of 314 S. Milwaukee St., Plymouth, passed away peacefully at his home early Sunday morning, July 5, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in the town of Plymouth, a son of the late Benno and Emma (Hand) Meyer. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic grade school and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1938.

On June 27, 1942, he was united in marriage to Vera Spradau at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The couple made their home in Plymouth all their married life.

He had been employed at Lake Shire Marty Cheese in Plymouth. In 1951 he and his brother Gilbert started the Farmers Market Cattle Dealership in Plymouth, which they operated for 37 years.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, and was a member of the Plymouth Chapter Knights of Columbus and had been its financial secretary for a number of years.

In his younger years Bob was active in baseball with the Greenbush team and bowled with the Knights of Columbus for many years as well as playing horseshoes with his family and friends. Bob was also a loyal Brewer, Bucks, Badger and Packer fan.

Through the years Bob and his wife enjoyed traveling together and were charter members of the Plymouth Fun Club. His wife preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1997.

Bob will certainly be remembered for his devotion to his wife and his family, following the exploits and sporting events of his children and grandchildren through the years.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Arnie) Mueller of Prairie du Chien and Barbara (Chuck) Kulow of Sheboygan; two sons, Thomas (Janice) and Stephen (Jean), both of Plymouth; 14 grandchildren, Lisa (Harry) Treu, Karen (Neal) Thome, Kim (Duane) Hubing, Chris Mueller, Holly (Craig) Eck, Rick (Colleen) Meyer, Debbie (Scott) Steldt, Trevor (Katie) Meyer, Shawn (Nicky) Meyer, Erik Lomas and Megan Lomas, Becky (Ryan) Syverson, Chad (Sonya) Kulow and Bob (Megan) Kulow; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Gerald Meyer, Harold (Anne) Meyer and George (Roxie) Meyer, all of Plymouth; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Spradau of Waldo and Jerome Skelton of Plymouth.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gib and Leo Meyer; one sister, Angela Skelton; six brothers-in-law, Bill Skelton, Eugene Spradau, Everett Brinkman, Otto Arnst, Jerome Trimberger and Roy Zwerg; and eight sisters-in-law, Elaine Meyer, Jane Meyer, Elvera Spradau, Rosella Brinkman, Ruth Arnst, Dorothy Zwerg, Irene Trimberger and Mildred Skelton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Wednesday, July 8, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wittkopp- Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth on Tuesday, July 7, from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
