Nine-run outburst sparks Rams over EL-G
ELKHART LAKE – The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters hung with visiting Random Lake for four innings before the roof caved in.
Random Lake erupted for nine runs in the top of the fifth to highlight a 15-4 rout in Central Lakeshore Conference baseball Monday night. Elkhart trailed only 6-3 after four innings.
The Rams combined five hits, five walks, a hit batter and one Resorter error in the fifth. The big hits were two-run singles by Andy Pohl and Jordan Cotter.
Random Lake pounded out 12 hits, led by Spencer Plier, Andy Pohl and Dan Pohl with two each.
Chris Bullock and Dane Blake had a team-high two hits apiece for the Resorters. Bullock also led in RBIs with two. Bullock has been red-hot at the plate recently – going 7-for-12 over the last four games.
Ben Wallace earned a complete game win. Wallace allowed three earned runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts in five innings. The game ended after five due to the 10-run rule.
Elkhart pitching allowed nine walks and two hit batters. The Resorters fell to 0-12 in the CLC (0-16 overall).
