IRENE A. BERG

Irene A. Berg, age 96, of Plymouth went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at the Arbor View Community in Plymouth.

She was born on June 23, 1913, in Waldo, daughter of the late August and Emma (Buelke) Ebelt.

She attended Plymouth schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1930, after which she attended one year of teachers’ college.

She taught school for four years, and later worked for over 13 years for the Sheboygan County Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

She married Clarence Berg on June 25, 1935. He preceded her in death June 26, 1994.

She was a former member of Evangelical United Brethren Church in Cascade, a former member of Trinity United Methodist in Waldo, and currently a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, where she also was a member of the Willing Workers.

She is survived by four children; Jerold (Janice) Berg of Cascade, Carol (Leo) Ehrlich of Sheboygan Falls, Eugene (Mildred) Berg of Pensacola Beach, Fla., and Barbara (Dan) Busalacchi of Mequon; nine grandchildren, Dan (Robin) Berg, Jeff (Amy) Ehrlich, Judi Ehrlich, Jill (Mike) Peters, Jennifer Koski, Melinda (Randy) Palmer, Chris (Jennifer) Busalacchi, Michael Busalacchi, and Jason (Kindra) Busalacchi; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ramona Ebelt.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Berg; three brothers and three sisters, Herbert, Willis and Harold Ebelt, and Evelyn Payne, Doris Hellmer, and Esther Halter.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Wittkopp-Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth, with the Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will take place in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in the name of Irene A. Berg. The family would like to thank the staff of the Arbor View Community and the staff of St. Nicholas Hospice for the wonderful care and concern they showed to Irene and her family.
