DAVID J. DOHERTY
David J. Doherty, age 84, of 515 Harvey Drive, Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Saturday morning, Aug. 1, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been a patient for the past week.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1925, in the town of Mitchell, Wis., a son of the late William and Ella Schleif Doherty.
David attended town of Mitchell grade school and Waldo High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from June of 1943 to January of 1946 and took part in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy during World War II.
On Nov. 30, 1946, he married Corrinne Hand in Cascade, Wis. After their marriage, the couple resided in the town of Mitchell for many years before moving to Plymouth in 2000.
David was employed at the Sheboygan County Highway Department for several years and worked at the Kohler Company for 36 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth and belonged to the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post 5612 and the Kohler Company Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Corrinne of Plymouth; his children, Richard (Judith) Doherty of Cascade, Kevin (Tammy) Doherty of Plymouth, Pamela Doherty of Plymouth, Lori (Carl) Holzer of Plymouth, Tim (Mary) Doherty of Plymouth, Dennis (Brenda) Doherty of Plymouth, and Steve Doherty of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren, Kathleen and Duncan Doherty of Cascade, Darren, Christopher and Danielle Holzer of Plymouth, Erin Doherty, Jordan and Colin Doherty all of Plymouth; four stepgrandchildren, Scott (Laura) Weber of Michigan, Michael, Tyler and Ben Schuldt of Plymouth; three great-grandchildren, Karrissa, Jadon and Riley Weber of Michigan; one brother, Patrick (Marge) Doherty of Kewaskum; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Doherty of Sheboygan, Adeline Doherty of Plymouth, and Judy Richards of Plymouth.
David is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Leona Hand; brothers, Edward, Michael (Harriet), Matthew (Shirley), and William; sisters, Margaret (Leslie) Falk, Marie (Bill) Warga, Katherine (Al) Wehmeyer, and Helen (Arlyn) Guenther; in-laws, John and Dorothy Hand, William and Francis Hand, Stuart and Elizabeth Hand and Chester Richards.
Funerals services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday evening, Aug. 5, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth will officiate. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 3 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services. A memorial fund is being established in David’s name.
