To the Editor:

Thanks to Alderman Ron Lade, the citizens of Plymouth at last got an inkling of what kind of deal Mayor Pohlman has been trying to put together.

Many, many facts are missing, but so far the mayor is talking about the city laying out $3 million for the rail deal, $2 million for an electrical substation, almost $1 million for railroad crossings, and this is just for beginners.

This would be on top of the $10 million that may be spent on the utilities office building.

This is way too big a deal for amateurs. The city needs the leadership of experienced commercial bankers and investment bankers to assemble a commercial development this big. The City Council should not approve any expenditures until it has complete information, in the form of a detailed prospectus, including financial planning on how the city would get a return on whatever money it spends.

James Thompson,
