Fantastic fishing outing
My recent fishing outing on Big Elkhart Lake brought back many fond memories of my youth.
Growing up in Iowa, my family would go on vacations to resorts in Minnesota and Wisconsin where we would we enjoy fishing among other activities. Also, I loved going to the local fishing hole with my brothers and friends.
My experience at Big Elkhart Lake with fishing guide Mark Miller and his 6-year-old son, Adam, was fantastic. It was the first time I had fished in about 25 years and got me all pumped up to try it again soon.
I told Mark that I was like a beginner because it had been so long since I fished. I can see why Mark is very successful with his Inland Waters Fishing Guide Service. He was very patient with me as I went back to the fishing basics such as how to hold to rod, cast, hook a fish, reel it in and hold a fish for display.
Once I got the hang of it through Mark’s expertise, I did pretty well. I’m proud to report that I even caught a few fish, including a nice-sized smallmouth bass, and managed not to lose a rod and reel or snag Mark or Adam with my hook.
It was so relaxing and enjoyable being out on the lake on such a beautiful July morning. Catching a fish was just a bonus. Mark and Adam reeled in plenty of fish – looking like a couple of pros. I rediscovered that patience is a key to fishing.
“It’s super exciting to catch a fish,” said Adam, bubbling with enthusiasm. “I like fishing with friends.”
Adam says he wants to be a fishing guide like his dad. He really enjoyed fishing with his dad and me, in fact I gained two friends on this outing. They invited me back for another fishing trip, and I can hardly wait.
Mark has quite a knack for making his customers feel comfortable and ensuring that they have an enjoyable experience. I can attest to all this. I was impressed with his knowledge of fishing and preparation.
If anyone wants to enjoy the outdoors, relax and experience the challenge of catching a fish, then this sport is for you. But, as I said before and Mark agrees, catching a fish is only part of the fun that a fishing outing offers.
