Dog walk

Usually I don't write to the opinion column, but I felt that I needed to rave about a great fundraiser I had the pleasure of attending July 25. Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Hospital held a dog walk fundraiser for the area humane societies at their hospital.

My family and our two boxers enjoyed the wonderful sunshine on the walk and met many other pet owners and their dogs.

After the walk, the hospital was open for tours and I had the chance to speak with one of the doctors and learn basic pet first aid techniques. I was really impressed with everything that the hospital has to offer to pet owners and the attention they showed my pets that day.

It's great to know that a local business cares enough about the community and created this great event to raise money for the local humane societies. We had a great time at the walk and look forward to attending next year.
