KOHLER – Junior goalie Mike Herman racked up 17 saves to help the Sheboygan Falls Falcons boys soccer team preserve a 2-0 shutout victory over the Kohler Blue Bombers in the non-conference season opener for both squads Tuesday, Aug. 18.

“Herman had some really nice saves,” said Falcons coach Jose Hernandez. “The defense was able to stop them over and over.”

Senior Dan Duda opened scoring five minutes into the first half on a header off a corner kick by senior Nathan Brown to make the score 1-0.

Late in the second half, senior Ricky Haase drilled a shot from outside to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.

Kohler outshot Falls 27-11. Adam Kellner goalkeeper had five saves for the Bombers.

“We knew this would be tough game,” said Brown. “We may have surprised ourselves, because we lost a lot leaders from last season.

“We still need to work on our shots and slow it down,” he said.
