PHS sweeps individual honors in quads

SHEBOYGAN – Senior Greg Poser and sophomore Haley Johnson of Plymouth won the boys and girls races, respectively, in Thursday’s cross country quadrangular meets at Sheboygan Lutheran.

Poser led the Panthers to victory as he ran the 3.1-mile race in 17 minutes, 5.77 seconds. PHS edged Chilton, 31-32. Sheboygan Falls finished third at 122. New Holstein had an incomplete squad.

Johnson was clocked in 15:13.84 on the 2.5-mile course. PHS took second with 62 points. Chilton captured first with 22. Falls was third at 88, followed by New Holstein with 190.

The PHS boys had four runners in the top five overall. Both meets were the Panther teams’ season openers.

“Overall both teams competed well for this early in the season,” said PHS head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

“The girls Chilton squad was quite good. Our team was no match for them but our boys ran a nice team race to win at that meet.”

“Greg and Haley looked real good in leading us.” Grosshuesch added that Luke Schmidt [third place] and Hannah Ruetten (15th) had strong races.
