Plymouth grad named scholarship winner at State Fair
The Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Committee has announced the recipients of the 2009 Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction scholarships. The committee sponsored five $1,000 scholarships and five $500 scholarships.
Winners of the $1,000 scholarships include a Sheboygan County resident, Claire Ohman, a 2008 graduate of Plymouth High School. She is the daughter of David and Barbara Ohman of Glenbeulah.
Given on an annual basis, the recipients were recognized for their achievements as Wisconsin State Fair Junior Livestock exhibitors, leadership skills and as future contributors to the livestock industry. The awards are used to assist them with their educational expenses.
The mission of the Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Committee is to educate and encourage youth exhibitors to produce high quality livestock that will provide wholesome and nutritious products, to provide a platform for enhancing and strengthening the agriculture community of Wisconsin, and to foster better understanding of the agriculture industry throughout the society.
