DOT reschedules road project

HOWARDS GROVE – The Department of Transportation (DOT) has rescheduled the State 32/42 road project.

Public Works Chairman Dan Binversie said that since the village will not have to budget the State 32/42 project, it may schedule South Washington Drive and Alcott Avenue as the next road project for the 2010 budget.

A resolution was adopted to adjust the 2009 budget. Village Board members voted to approve $3,000 from the reserve for contingency account to the public safety outlay account.

Village President James Scheiber stated in follow-up action items that he would like a letter to be sent to developers for the second layer of blacktop scheduled for this fall.

More written documentation should be given to developers to get projects finished. Pipe standards for sump pumps should be included in construction standards.

A resolution was approved to designate Cleveland State Bank as an official depository.

The preliminary report of the 2009 census population for the village as of Jan. 1, 2009 is 3,096.

The Finance Committee has decided to remove the names of delinquent invoices from the village newsletter. They will pursue collection through a debtor.

The grant that was applied for the Memorial Park concession stand construction wasn’t approved.

Jim Schuette spoke with Kim Sebastian, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) regional urban forestry coordinator, regarding the tree planting program grant, emerald ash borer, and Arbor Day celebrations. The committee will discuss the possible grant at their next meeting.
