by George Baumann Special to The Review
PLYMOUTH – Plymouth Dirt Track Racing was canceled Saturday night due to cold and rain at Sheboygan County Fair Park. It was the track's third postponement of the season.
The County Fair will take place at the fairgrounds Labor Day Weekend (Thursday through Monday), meaning the season's final program will be Championship Night Sept. 12. Championships are up for grabs in all four divisions.
Craig Schueffner (Sheboygan Falls) has a 65-point lead over Jim Schmidt (Cleveland) in the Late Model Division. Schueffner was Rookie of the Year in 2007 and last year was named Most Improved Driver.
The closest championship race is in the Grand National Division where Loren Lubach (Sheboygan) leads Tim Thompson (Campbellsport) by a just two points. Both drivers are looking for their first championship with PDTR.
The Sprint Car class shows Troy Wondra (Lomira) leading Wayne Modjeski (Oak Creek) by only 15 points. Jason Johnson (Allenton) is in the title hunt, trailing by only 18.
In the Outlaw Compact Division, Tim Simon (Fond du Lac) has a 28-point lead over J.J. Pagel (St. Cloud) and is looking for his PDTR first title.
Racing will begin at 6 p.m. Activities scheduled for Kids Night will take place Sept. 12.
