Falcons take third at cross country quad

SHEBOYGAN – The Sheboygan Falls Falcons girls and boys cross country teams each placed third at a season opening quadrangular meet at UW-Sheboygan Thursday, Aug. 27.

In the girls division, Chilton took first place with 22 points. Plymouth was second with 62, Falls finished third with 88 and New Holstein came in fourth at 190.

Plymouth edged Chilton 31-32 in the boys team competition. Falls placed third with 122 points and New Holstein’s score was incomplete.

Sophomore Stephanie Kleckner led the Falcon girls team with a fifth-place finish in a personal-best time of 17:36. Sophomore Nicole Bartel turned in a sold 10th place finish for the Falcons.

Junior Lucas LaCrosse led the Falls boys squad by notching a 13th-place showing, while junior Chase Schultz added a 19th-place finish. Sophomore Lucas Lambrecht finished 33rd, with a personal-best time of 20:19.

“I thought our first meet was very good overall,” said Falcons coach Tiffany Otte. “We had several packs of runners that worked together very well. We had good teamwork.”

Haley Johnson of Plymouth ran a 15:13.84 to win the girls race. Greg Poser of Plymouth took first in the boys individual competition, with a time of 17:05.77.
