HG Tigers Volleyball Tournament
The Howards Grove Tigers finished 2-3 and seventh place in Saturday’s Mukwonago Invitational girls volleyball tournament.
Howards defeated Waukesha North in the seventh-place match, 25-12, 25-18. Menomonee Falls won the eight-team tourney with a 5-0 record.
The Tigers’ other victory was also against Waukesha North (25-22, 25-16) in pool play. Howards lost to Oconomowoc and Menomonee Falls in its other pool matches, and to North Fond du Lac in a consolationround match.
“The girls had a renewed energy. The girls finally jelled as a team,” said Tiger head coach Brett Damrow.
Ali Benning led Howards in spike kills for the tourney with 50. Brianna Morgen had a team-high 33 digs. Emily Schuh led in ace serves with 11.
Kasey Latham paced the Tigers in assists with 83. Jessica Genske had a team-best 12 blocks.
LUTHERAN MATCH
The Tigers opened their Central Lakeshore Conference season Thursday night at home with a 20-25, 22- 25, 15-25 loss to defending CLC champion Sheboygan Lutheran.
Benning paced Howards in spike kills and digs with 10 each. Latham had a team-high 25 assists. Anna Jacobson led the Crusaders in spike kills with 12. Amanda Roesh was first in assists with 33.
