Resorters lose volleyball debut

ELKHART LAKE – The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters lost their girls volleyball season debut here Thursday night but had some bright spots.

Cedar Grove-Belgium swept the Resorters 25-8, 25-9, 25-12 in a Central Lakeshore Conference dual match.

“The girls did several positive things during the course of the match, considering it was the first match of the season,” said Resorter head coach Terri Huether.

Katelyn Winkel led Elkhart in digs with five and ace serves, two. Andrea Knowles and Katie Starnitcky had a team-high one block each. Starnitcky and Abbey Neils paced the team in spike kills with one apiece.

Rachel Slotman keyed the Rockets’ attack with five spike kills to go with a team-high two blocks. Stephanie Ruppel led in assists with 13. Ashley Turnquist paced the team in ace serves at seven.
