Resorters dismantle Lutheran
KOHLER – Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah smashed into the win column with an impressive 40-15 thumping of host Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler Friday night.
The Resorters’ offense, led by senior running back Tanner Rosso’s monster performance running the ball, and a dominant defense paved the way in their Central Lakeshore Conference football opener. Elkhart improved to 1-2 overall and handed the Crusaders (0-1 in CLC, 2-1 overall) their first defeat.
Rosso pounded out a career-high 228 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Elkhart racked up a seasonbest 376 yards on the ground.
The Resorters’ defense was also brilliant – holding the Crusaders to a measly 28 yards in total offense, including minus-2 rushing.
“It [Elkhart’s showing] was definitely great. I’m very proud of the kids,” said Resorter head coach Barry Feldmann.
“Our defense was tenacious. Everybody did their job filling the gaps and flowed to the ball well.
“We had some holes [blocking] but our running backs got a lot of yards after contact.” The Elkhart defense forced an impressive seven turnovers. Cornerback Travis Kosnicki had two interceptions.
