IRENE L. HOEFLER
Irene L. Hoefler, 86, of Watertown passed away on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.
Irene was born on March 23, 1923 in Plymouth, Wis., the daughter of Gregor and Dora (Foertsch) Fleisner.
She married Andrew Hoefler on May 2, 1942 in Armstrong, Wis.
Irene was a domestic engineer. She and her husband owned and operated Hoefler Excavating for many years, until their son Carl took over the business. She also worked for the town of Emmet with recycling.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church and rarely missed a Sunday service.
She loved to knit, watch professional wrestling and play sheepshead. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor and her cooking.
Survivors include six children, Carl Hoefler, James (Jeanne) Hoefler, Richard (June) Hoefler, Roger (Phyllis) Hoefler, Patsy (Jack) Stark and Michael (Deb) Hoefler, all of Watertown; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Margaret (Robert) Kalies of Plymouth; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Marquardt Foundation or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 18, in the Bethany Chapel at Marquardt Memorial Manor with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the chapel on Friday 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
