Adapted for the stage by John Mortimer, Charles Dickens' yuletide classic “A Christmas Carol” is an absolute delight from start to finish. Everybody knows the story … the relentlessly stingy Scrooge is visited Christmas Eve by the spirit of Marley, his deceased business partner, and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come. Each ghost plays a part in Scrooge's transformation: the ghoulish Marley is a portent of what's to come for Scrooge if he continues his life of avarice; while the collective influence of the other ghosts provide Scrooge with the ultimate epiphany: the value of humanity. The story has seized and captivated the imagination of all ages, who have carried the characters and language with them throughout their lives.
Plymouth Arts Center’s production of “A Christmas Carol” is a version first performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The show will be directed by Kerrylynn Kraemer Curtiss of Plymouth.
Show dates are Fridays, Dec. 11 and 18, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Dec. 12 and 19, 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 13, 2:30 p.m.
