Galloway paces EL-G runners at invite
MOUNT CALVARY – Senior Myles Galloway captured seventh place to carry the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters to seventh in Saturday’s St. Lawrence Seminary Cross Country Invitational.
Galloway ran the 3.1-mile course in 18 minutes, 31 seconds. The winner was Tyler of Appleton Xavier with a time of 18:06.
Xavier won the 18-team meet with 48 points. Sheboygan Lutheran took third at 106, led by Jacob Wheeler, who was 12th in 18:44. Elkhart scored 243.
The Resorters finished 13th in the 15-team girls meet with 309 points. They were paced by Kate Vollrath who was 30th in 17:40 on the 2.5-mile layout.
Freedom was first with 61, followed by Lutheran at 72. Meghan Falconer led Lutheran as she finished third with a 15:59 effort. The champion was Marya Haegler of Winnebago Lutheran (Fond du Lac) who was clocked in an outstanding 14:54.
“I thought they [boys and girls] did well. There were a lot of bigger schools and it was a challenging course,” said Resorter head coach Dan Stephanie.
“There was good competition.” Stephanie said several Elkhart runners ran season-best times.
