Growing up Dutch topic of program
The Research Center presents as its October Second Saturdays program Rich Dykstra and “Observations on Growing Up Dutch in Sheboygan County,” Saturday, Oct. 10.
Dykstra’s background, like many of ours, was filled with family, faith, food and foibles. His stories deal with everyday life — recipes, chairs with names, big brothers, pranks, work ethic and oh, so much more. He may have grown up in a family with Dutch roots, but the experiences and wisdom of his family are common to all ethnic groups.
Dykstra is the author of a number of books including “Jim’s Brother” and “Jim’s Brother II.”
The program runs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Sheboygan Falls Memorial Library, 330 Buffalo St., Sheboygan Falls. Coffee and donuts will be served. Admission is free and open to the public.
