There Is Hope
To the Editor:
Mental Health America in Sheboygan County would like to express its thanks to the community for making the fourth annual walk for suicide awareness and prevention Sept. 19 an amazing success. Over 300 walkers and runners participated in “There is Hope”!
One individual described the participants walking on the Old Plank Road Trail in their bright yellow T-shirts as looking like a ray of sunshine. How fitting for an event which provided an opportunity for family and friends to remember their losses within a circle of support of other survivors. The event also allowed MHA to shed light on the issues of suicide prevention and depressive disorders, the leading cause of suicide.
MHA would like to thank those who walked as well as their sponsors, businesses that purchased trail markers, those who donated items for the silent auction, and the volunteers who kept things running smoothly. Unfortunately, it is impossible to thank all of you personally.
MHA would like to publicly recognize Odyssey Fun Center for generously allowing us to use their grounds; Tents Inc.; the Dementia Care Network; Veolia Environmental Services; Pentecostal Church; Grube Decorating; Gibbsville Orchard; Pepsi Co.; Sargento; and Torke Coffee.
Next year, the “There is Hope” walk takes place Saturday, Aug. 21. Through your participation, you can help Mental Health America create a brighter tomorrow.
