Sheboygan Falls senior forward Lewis Halverson scored a hat trick and senior forward Dan Duda added two goals, as the Falcons recorded a 9-2 pounding of the Two Rivers Purple Raiders in Eastern Wisconsin Conference boys soccer action Thursday, Sept. 24, in Falls.

The victory was the fifth in a row for the Falcons, who improved to 6-3 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference (11-3 overall).

“We’re attacking the goal well on offense,” said Falcons coach Jose Hernandez. “We are starting to get healthier and this will makes us stronger.”

The Falcons built a 3-0 first-half lead, and exploded in the second half with six goals, before letting Two Rivers slip in two goals late in the game.

Halverson and Duda combined to score the first five goals for the Falcons.

Senior Mitch Thimmig scored his first goal of the year, while junior Leo Hernandez, freshman Will Meyer and senior Ricky Haase scored goals. Meyer had three assists and senior Nathan Brown had two.

Michael Goetch and Spencer Slager made goals for the Raiders.

Halverson continued his scoring spree, knocking in two goals in a 3-0 shutout of the Campbellsport Cougars Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Falls.

Halverson has scored nine goals in the last seven games.

Falls and Campbellsport were somewhat slowed by a wet field. However, the Falcons took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a score by senior Doug Arpke, who kicked the ball into the far side of the Campbellsport goal.

Halverson connected for two goals in the second half to secure the win. Haase had the assist on the second Falcons’ goal.

“Shawn Burkhardt continues to play well in the goal for us,” commented Hernandez.
