Warriors too much for Falcons

by Steve Ottman Review Correspondent

The defending 2008 State Champion Waupun Warriors proved to be too much for the host Sheboygan Falls Falcons, as they swept all three games 3-0 in Eastern Wisconsin Conference volleyball action Thursday, Sept. 24.

Waupun won the match on scores of 25-11, 25-16, 25-15.

Falls has now lost its last three matches in the EWC to go to 2-5 in conference play and 14-8 overall.

“We played hard against a good Waupun team,” said Falcons coach Deb Hasler. “Every time we made good plays, they reacted with good defense.

“Overall I’m happy with our performance,” she said. “They are just a great team, and it was hard to build any momentum.”

Junior Leslie Stadler and freshman Staci Hasler led the Falcons in serving, combining to go 17-of-17.

Hasler made nine assists and junior Brooke Buehler added nine digs. Abby Grossen and senior Lauren Carman each had eight digs, while seniors Alysse Hucke and Cassie Quirt each added five kills.

This Thursday, Oct. 1, the SFHS volleyball team will host the Quest to Block Breast Cancer fundraiser match against the New Holstein Huskies.

A special ceremony will begin after the finish of the junior varsity match. All money raised will go to support children, who have lost a parent to breast cancer.
