LEONA L. BUSS

Leona Lydia Buss, 89, of Sheboygan Senior Community Beach Health Care, of Sheboygan and Oostburg, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 29, 2009.

Leona was born on Nov. 17, 1919, in Sheboygan, daughter of the late John and Leona (Nommensen) Lorenzen. She was a 1937 graduate of Sheboygan High School. On Aug. 16, 1941, she married Earl R. Buss in Sheboygan Falls. Earl preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1995.

Leona was employed with Schultz-Sav-O in Sheboygan for 20 years until the time of her retirement in 1979.

Leona was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where she was a member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. Leona loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, crocheting, and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Eileen (David) Hilbelink of Appleton, Francine (Gary) DeMaster of Oostburg, and Julie (Patrick) Lamb of Sheboygan; one son, Gary (Nancy) Buss of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren, Kerri Hilbelink, Scott (Nicole) Hilbelink, Troy (Angie) DeMaster, Kimberly (Chris) Grosskreutz, Bryan (Megan) DeMaster, Kelly (Otis) Richardson, Erin (Tod) Holfeltz, and Shawn (Holly) Lamb; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth DeMaster, Kailey and Tyler Grosskruetz, Aubrey DeMaster, and Eirik Richardson; special friend, Phillip Hermann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leona was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Lorenzen and Arthur Lorenzen; and three sisters, Marge Weber of Sheboygan, Lorraine Schild of Brookfield, and Verna Metscher of Green Bay.

Funeral services were held on Saturday morning, Oct. 3, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Wayne DeVrou officiating. Burial took place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
