Sheriff’s Report – Oct. 5
A 16-year-old town of Lyndon youth was very busy on the night of Sept. 28 and into the following day after he escaped from shelter care in the city of Sheboygan and went on a car-stealing spree – stealing a total of four cars.
According to Capt. David Adams of the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, the Sheboygan Police Department was notified at 8:46 p.m. Sept. 28 that the youth had run away – he was in custody of the police the following day after admitting to a counselor what he had done.
After leaving the shelter, the youth stole the first car, a Ford Taurus, from the city of Sheboygan and drove it to the town of Lyndon. There he removed the battery and installed it into a second car, an abandoned Ford Tempo with four flat tires that was sitting in a field. He managed to drive the Tempo to the village of Waldo, where he stole the third vehicle, a Pontiac, and drove it to the town of Sheboygan Falls. In Sheboygan Falls, he found the fourth vehicle, a 1986 Cadillac with one flat tire. He removed all four tires from the Pontiac to put onto the Cadillac but discovered they wouldn’t fit; he decided to keep them anyway to sell later. After becoming angry with the Pontiac, he trashed it by vandalizing it.
The youth then put the Cadillac’s spare tire on it and drove it to the Deer Trace Mall, parked it and went walking on a trail in the area. While on the walk, he lost the car key. The youth approached a male, also walking on the trail, and explained to him that he lost his car keys and asked him for a ride to Sheboygan for a counselor’s appointment. The man gave him a ride, and the youth told the counselor what he had done. His mother then took him to the Sheboygan Police Department and he was placed in Juvenile Detention.
All four vehicles were unlocked and the keys were inside, Adams said.

Jeffry C. Henning, 53, of Plymouth and David W. Van Wormer, 54, of Adell, were injured in a twovehicle accident Sept. 30 in the town of Sherman – both men were passengers in two separate vehicles that struck each other.
According to the accident report, Henning was a passenger in a truck driven by 51-year-old Dwight D. Darrow of Cascade. Darrow was traveling west on County W when an eastbound vehicle, driven by 17- year-old David N. Ochowicz of Adell, attempted to turn onto Silvercreek Cascade Road and turned in front of Darrow. Skid marks on the road indicated Darrow tried to avoid hitting Ochowicz, but the two vehicles struck each other in the front passenger areas – sending Ochowicz into the south ditch, and Darrow north into a power pole guide wire. Van Wormer was a passenger in Ochowicz’s vehicle. The accident happened at 4:02 p.m.
Ochowicz was ticketed with failing to yield right of way. Both passengers were transported to Sheboygan hospitals.
