To the Editor:
After supervising the Pep buses (yes, more than one) to the football game in Kewaskum on Friday night, I feel compelled to reply to the letter from the Kewaskum fan.
I also commented about this letter on the Review Web site and will repeat some of those comments here.
I supervised 60 PHS students on the Pep buses and was proud of them and the student section. Our students ran with the flag to encourage the wave, did pushups after the Panthers scored and, yes, they stormed the field. Storming the field is nothing new. After a victory, our students wait for the Panthers to sing the school fight song to them, a tradition that has gone on for years.
There are certainly bad behaving people in every crowd. I witnessed some unacceptable behaviors on Friday as well; but this letter isn’t about bad behavior, it’s about pride, hard work, school spirit, good kids and victory. Should the Panthers go on the road in the future, I encourage all young and old in our community to ride the Pep buses that Community Ed-and-Rec will coordinate. You might even have the opportunity to storm the field! We have many senior citizens who have shared the Pep buses with our kids in the past. They love our kids and being part of Panther sporting events. They can reassure you that the majority of our kids are well behaved, respectful and full of school spirit.
As the Pep buses rolled out of Kewaskum on Friday night, the students on board began to chant, "Plymouth, Plymouth …"
Plymouth community, don't buy into this negative letter. And if you are looking for something to do on Friday, come and enjoy the Homecoming festivities with our students. You will see firsthand why you can be proud. Go Panthers!!
