CHARLOTTE M. HURLBURT

Charlotte M. Hurlburt, age 74, of 866 Eagles Way, Plymouth, Wis., passed away at her home Monday, Oct. 26, 2009.

She was born April 30, 1935 in Bruce, Wis., a daughter of the late Glen and Mildred Thayler Mattison. She graduated from Bruce High School and Rice Lake Teachers College.

On June 22, 1963, she married Donald W. Hurlburt in Bruce, Wis. The couple resided in Sheboygan, moving to Plymouth in 1967.

She was employed at Johnsonville Sausage for many years and at Bemis Manufacturing in Sheboygan Falls, retiring in 2000.

Charlotte was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth where she was an active member and volunteer.

Her community activities included: Meals on Wheels, serving meals at the Senior Center, she was a member of the Committee on Aging, played in three bridge clubs, volunteered at the Arts Center, and was a member of the Plymouth Civic Society, and miscellaneous volunteer activities. Charlotte was a very active person. She was a vigorous participant in all of the above activities in spite of having to carry a portable oxygen tank at all times.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Donald of Plymouth; her children: Gregory K. Hurlburt of Sheboygan; Matthew (Susan) Hurlburt of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and Karen (John) Petta of Lexington, S.C.; nine grandchildren: Spencer, Parker, Daniel, Bradley, Kristen, Ashton, Carita, Nicholas and Dylan; two sisters, Hazel (Manly) Fetting of Bruce, Wis., and Kay (Ray) Osiecki of West Salem, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Juanita (Tom) Palbitska of Waukegan, Ill., and Ruby Hurlburt of Houston, Texas; and also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Leatherman, Beatrice Kuhn and Janet Oleson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. The Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of the church, will officiate. Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be in Cornell, Wis., on her family’s plot.

Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
