Women’s Civic Society of Plymouth minutes of September and October meetings
The Women’s Civic Society of Plymouth celebrated the start of their sixth year with a luncheon at Osthoff and a style show from TLC.
Sixty-four members and guests attended the Sept. 23 meeting. Also in attendance were five ladies from the Brown County Community Women’s Club who were kind enough to share some of their experiences and club activities.
Door prizes and gift certificates were given out at the end of the meeting. Three hundred dollars was donated to the Plymouth Food Pantry and members were asked to bring canned goods to the next meeting. The Tea Committee members for the luncheon were Nancy Jensen, Arlene Naber, Elaine Burgess, Carole Hummell, Darlene Yockey, Hilda Frantz, Karen Gunnlaugsson, and Leila Spieker.
The October meeting was held on the 28th at City Hall. The meeting started with a moment of silence for Charlotte Hurlburt. A book will be donated in her name to the Plymouth Public Library at a later date.
The business person of the month was Mark Brasser from Discount Ink. Mark and Scott Trekas of Oostburg spoke to the group on some of the advantages of their services.
Linda Wieck from the Camo-Quilt Project gave a very interesting talk on how she got started making quilts for our military troops. At this time, she and her fellow workers have made over 3,000 quilts that have been given free of charge to the soldiers in the Middle East.
Seven new members were introduced at the October meeting: Julie Nelson, Mary Ann Bernauer, Jeanne Pethan, Sue Wegner, Diana Roberts, Carol Langkabel and Kathy Ferguson.
Evelyn Kretsch read a note from Arlene Naber thanking everyone who made this year’s salad luncheon a success.
The Tea Committee served a pumpkin dessert. Committee members were Ellie Westphalen, Becky Cole, Ellen Entringer, Elaine Crawford, Susan Curtiss, and Sue Wegner.
Our next meeting will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 18 at Salem Church. Anyone interested in joining the group, should feel free to attend the meeting on the 18th.
