Darlene B. Beaudoin, 33, of Sheboygan Falls, was scammed out of $16,100 after she wired that amount to another account in order to purchase a vehicle from an Internet seller.

According to Capt. David Adams, Beaudoin was attempting to purchase a car from Yahoo Autos. When she became suspicious and attempted to get her money back, she learned that the money had already been removed from the account it was wired to.

Beaudoin told officials that the car she paid for was still listed on the site as for sale.

Adams cautions people not to wire money and says that people need to be aware that when they are dealing with the Internet, they must deal with a company that is reputable such as PayPal or Mastercard. When money is wired, there is no recourse in getting your money back.
