Six members of the Sheboygan Falls Falcons football team have earned All-Eastern Wisconsin Conference accolades for the recently completed 2009 season.

Falcons junior Nick Roelse collected second-team honors as a split end and outside linebacker. Senior Zach Berg was named to the All-EWC second team at the defensive back position and senior Matt Henning also captured second-team accolades as an inside linebacker.

Honorable mention went to Falcons senior Clarke Moberg at guard and senior Adam Lorenz at quarterback. Moberg also earned honorable mention distinction as an inside linebacker and senior Spencer Hurlburt claimed honorable mention as a defensive tackle.

Roelse led the Falcons in receiving, with 43 catches for 665 yards.

“We’re excited to have Roelse back next season,” said Falcons coach Mike Nikson. “With some hard work, he’ll be even better next season.

“Berg and Henning played tough and made some huge plays on defense,” remarked Nikson.

Moberg led the team with 53 tackles.

“Moberg getting named on offense and defense is a testament to his toughness,” stated Nikson. “Hurlburt was a gutty player that was willing to play several positions.”

Lorenz completed 99-of-184 pass attempts and threw for 1,231 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

“Lorenz was our workhorse,” Nikson said. “To get named with the other top quarterbacks was an honor for him.”

All-EWC offensive awards went to Austin Armga of Waupun (Receiver of the Year), Brian Bottleman of Kewaskum (Lineman of the Year), Jon Criter of Plymouth (Back of the Year and EWC MVP).

All-EWC defensive awards were given to Brandon Ermer of Plymouth (Lineman of the Year), Ian Murray of Plymouth (Linebacker of the Year and EWC MVP) and Armga (Defensive back of the Year). 2009 Eastern Wisconsin Conference
