GORDON W. “GORDY” BUEHLER

Gordon W. “Gordy” Buehler, age 84, of 820 Mockingbird Lane, Plymouth, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 9, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gordon was born Dec. 10, 1924, in the town of Sheboygan Falls, a son of the late Elmer J. and Anna Hopeman Buehler. He attended Sheboygan Falls area schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1942.

He served with the United States Army from 1945-46 during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

On Oct. 15, 1949, Gordy married Carol Betty Tempas at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, Wis. The couple resided in the Sheboygan Falls area for many years after their marriage, moved to Pembine, Wis., and upon retirement moved to Plymouth, Wis.

Gordon was employed at Tecumseh Products in Sheboygan Falls for 18 years, and owned and operated the Grand Motel in Pembine for seven years retiring in 1987.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls.

Gordy’s happiest moments were spending time with his family, being in the great outdoors enjoying nature, gardening, golfing and trout fishing in the Marinette County streams.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Betty of Plymouth. The couple were blessed with four children: Mae Ann Buehler-Miskowiak (special friend, Denis) of Green Bay; Julie Buehler-Mauer of Sheboygan Falls; Daniel E. (Amy) Buehler, (daughters, Brianna and Mackenzie Bennin), all of Sheboygan Falls; and daughter-in-law, Barb (Keith) Binversie of Plymouth. They have five grandchildren: Amy (Dave) Buresh, Sarah (Chris) Spychalla of Green Bay, Ryan (Becca) Mauer of Madison, Bill Mauer of Stevens Point and Bethany Mauer of Milwaukee. They also have seven great-grandchildren: Brittney, Mariah, Mitchell, Cora, Carly, Brennan and Elliot; two brothers, Harold (Lois) Buehler of Sheboygan and Howard (Bernice) Buehler of Sheboygan Falls; three sisters-in-law: Ruth Buehler of Sheboygan Falls, Avis Tempas of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mary Voskuil of Sheboygan Falls; and two brothers-in-law, Burton (Millie) Tempas of Cedar Grove and Robert (Helen) Tempas of Milbrae, Calif. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Gary, and one brother, Derwin.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls. The Rev. Brad Veenendaal, pastor of the church, will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund is being established in Gordy’s name for the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls or Hospice Advantage.

The Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 will conduct military rites at the cemetery following the services at church.
