BERNETTA I. HAMANN
Bernetta Ida Hamann, 82 of 2820 Windpoint Court, Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
Bernetta was born on May 19, 1927, in the town of Sheboygan Falls, daughter of the late Herbert and Edna (Wippermann) Wunsch.
She was a 1944 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School.
On Oct. 23, 1948, she married Vernon Hamann at St. Luke Lutheran Church in the town of Sheboygan Falls. Vernon preceded her in death on July 19, 1982.
Bernetta was employed as a secretary, corporate officer, and office manager for Verifine Dairy for 46 years until her retirement in 1990. She also served as parish secretary at St. Luke Lutheran Church until her retirement there in 2006.
Bernetta was a lifetime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, confirmation classes, sang in the choir, and served as a soloist. She was a member of St. Luke’s Women of the ELCA and Mary-Martha Circle.
Bernetta served as secretary of the fund-raising committee for the Sheboygan County Historical Society and was also a member of the Sheboygan Chapter of Professional Secretaries International (president in 1990 and 1991). Since her retirement, she enjoyed traveling both in the United States and abroad.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Howard Wilsmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Donna Hamann and Delano and Audrey Hamann. Bernetta is also survived by a nephew, nieces, and cousins.
Bernetta was also preceded in death one sister, Bernice Wunsch Hahn on March 3, 1953.
Her funeral service was held Monday morning, Nov. 16, 2009 at Greenlawn Chapel of Eternal Light in the town of Sheboygan with the Rev. Elizabeth Jaeger officiating.
A memorial fund has been established in Bernetta’s name for St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls.
