RUTH E. HERING

Ruth E. Hering, 90, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Pine Haven Christian Home.

Ruth was born March 14, 1919 in Plymouth, daughter of the late Karl and Alvina (Bohnsack) Schachtschneider. She was a 1938 graduate of Plymouth High School and in 1941 graduated from Columbia School of Nursing in Milwaukee.

On June 22, 1946, she married Edwin A. Hering in Green Lake, Wis. Edwin preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1993. Ruth was employed as a registered nurse with Sheboygan County and later with Dr. Horace Hansen until her retirement. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls.

She loved watercolor painting, for which she received awards, and enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling, and dancing.

Survivors include three nieces, Phyllis (Bob) Mueller, Carolyn (Wayne) Allen and Kathy (Don) Donarski; four nephews, Dr. Thomas (Linda) Licking, Lawrence Licking, Thomas (Sandy) Hering and Paul (Linda) Hering; and two cousins, Beryl Blanke and Muriel (Roy) Sadro. Ruth is also survived by her special friend and caregiver, Maureen (Bernie) Rudebeck and her family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin; one sister, Ilma Licking and one brother, Edwin Schachts.

Funeral service for Ruth will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
