American Legion Auxiliary Post holds meetings
The October meeting of the Sheboygan Falls American Legion Auxiliary was held at Parkview Restaurant in Sheboygan Falls.
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by secretary Eydie Rohrbeck. Seven members were present.
Chaplain Priscilla read an inspirational reading from the auxiliary newspaper The Chaplain’s Corner.
The minutes from the July 8 meeting were approved as printed. Treasurer Judy Kinate explained the budget and the donations.
Following the discussion, Eydie Rohrbeck moved to donate $100 to the local programs for vets. Priscilla Treat made a motion to donate $160 to the Camo Quilt Project.
Judy Kinate will check if poppy fund money can be used for Military Families Connect.
Ruth Fasse made a motion to increase all poppy fund donations by $20, except one, which will be dropped from the list.
Char Kneevers moved to donate $100 to the Sheboygan Falls Food Pantry.
A donation from Delores Slesrick for a memorial in honor of Dorothy Walsh will be put toward a Spinoza bear.
A memorial service was held by the auxiliary at the funeral service for Dorothy Walsh. Twelve members participated.
Ruth Fasse moved to send $100 for five trees for the Trees for Troops
Scholarships were discussed and tabled until the December meeting.
The December meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m., at The Villager Restaurant in Sheboygan Falls. Donations for the Falls Food Pantry will be collected at the meeting. New members are always welcome.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
The July 8 meeting of the Falls American Legion Auxiliary was called to order by Sandy Weber at 6 p.m., at The Other Place in Sheboygan Falls.
The treasurer’s report was handed out and explained. VIM membership was explained. The profit from the poppies can only be used for the veterans. Minutes were handed out.
Rosemary Eigenberger made a motion to approve the minutes as printed.
The night the meetings are held was discussed, and the meetings will stay on Wednesday night.
The October meeting was scheduled at Parkview Restaurant. The December meeting will be held at The Villager, with the March 2010 meeting at The Bull and the July 2010 meeting at The Other Place.
Char Kneevers granddaughter entered the Americanism Essay Contest and received a fifth-place award. The title of the essay was “Soldiers, Past and Present – America Honor Your Veterans.”
Sandy Visser reported that the poppy sale profited $930.67, and she did present the poppy program at the schools.
Char Kneevers moved for the treasurer to investigate using a different bank.
New business discussed was the cost of using Badger State and sending someone.
The Legion county bus trip was explained. The Camo Quilt Project, the Honor Flight and Bur Camp were discussed.
The Sheboygan County Auxiliary District meeting was reviewed. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
