Falls man sentenced for child abuse
A 28-year-old Sheboygan Falls man was sentenced to four years in prison Tuesday, Nov. 17, after being convicted of abusing his infant son.
Frank D. Heikkinen was convicted of felony second-degree reckless injury.
According to Sheboygan County Circuit Court records, Heikkinen caused numerous injuries to the infant, which included two skull fractures, four broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken leg.
The infant’s injuries were discovered in April when Heikkinen and his wife took the 3-week-old boy to the Salvation Army of Greater Sheboygan to seek rental assistance, according to a criminal complaint.
Salvation Army workers noticed bruises, and a full-body scan revealed several other injuries.
According to the criminal complaint, Heikkinen told police he struck the boy in the head numerous times and hit him on the back to keep his legs down during a diaper change.
The child is now in foster care. Heikkinen was also sentenced to three years extended supervision.
