PHS grad Peterson swims at Kentucky

Chelsea Peterson, a 2008 Plymouth High School graduate, is a sophomore on the University of Kentucky women’s swimming and diving team this season.

Peterson, a state medal-winner at PHS, is a freestyle swimmer for the Wildcats. In Kentucky’s dual meet against Virginia Nov. 7, she swam the leadoff leg on her 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished second. Peterson’s split was 24.88 seconds.

Also in the meet, she finished sixth in the 100 freestyle in 53.54 and in the 500 freestyle in 5 minutes, 12.54 seconds.

As a freshman last season, Peterson was on the sixth-place 200 freestyle and seventh-place 400 freestyle relay teams in the Southeastern Conference Championships. She also helped the Wildcats set a school record in the 800 freestyle relay with a seventh-place finish.

Peterson had four top-four finishes in her freshman dual season and took third in the 100 freestyle at an invitational meet.
