County schedules flu clinics
The state of Wisconsin has broadened the target groups for H1N1 vaccine eligibility. The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health has scheduled several free community H1N1 vaccine clinics to immunize these larger risk groups.
The new criteria include: Anyone regardless of age with a medical condition that puts them at risk of flurelated complications; children and young adults 6 months to 24 years; pregnant women; household contacts of pregnant women due to deliver in the next 6 weeks; household contacts and caregivers of infants younger than 6 months (including parents, siblings and daycare workers); and healthcare workers and emergency medical services staff.
The community clinics will be held on the following dates and locations:
Dec. 1, 2 - 5 p.m. at the Sheboygan County Airport Aviation Heritage Center, N6180 Resource Dr., Sheboygan Falls.

School-located clinics remain postponed. Vaccinating your school-aged child at a scheduled community clinic is encouraged by the Division of Public Health.
Vaccine will be on hand in shot and nasal mist forms but subject to availability and eligibility. Those under 18 will need parental consent and to be accompanied by an adult.
Anyone who plans on attending a clinic needs to be free of fever greater than 100 degrees.
Community clinic consent forms and vaccine information statements can be reviewed or filled out prior to arrival. They can be found online at www.co.sheboygan.wi.us/Clinics.htm. H1N1 vaccine clinics scheduled locally and throughout the region and state can be found online at www.wisconsinfluclinic.info or by calling 2-1-1.
Flu season is far from over. Vaccine is the best protection against this new virus.
According to state health officials, Wisconsin has been assigned to ultimately receive more than one million doses of H1N1 vaccine from the federal government. However, there is still not enough to open vaccinations to the general public at this time.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services continues to monitor the state vaccine supply and will continue to expand upon the vaccine target group recommendations as quickly as possible.
