GLADYS LINTON
Gladys E. Linton, age 72, of 4 Algonquin Trail, Sheboygan, passed away late Monday evening, Nov. 23, 2009, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice where she had been a resident for the past two weeks.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1937, in Libertyville, Ill., a daughter of the late Frederick W. and Bessie E. Tripp Meyer. She grew up on a 160-acre dairy farm in Ringwood, Ill.
She attended Richmond Grade School and Richmond High School. She received her GED in 1974 and attended Lakeshore Technical College, receiving a nurse’s assistant degree in 1989.
On April 11, 1954, she married John W. Linton in McHenry County, Ill. The couple moved to the Plymouth area in 1963. She worked as a home health aide for Community Home Nursing for many years until 1997. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Sheboygan. She was active in children’s organizations in her church, Campfire Girls, and 4-H.
She enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include her children, Elaine (James) Krawczyk of Milwaukee, Christina M. (Maynard) Amdahl of Ankeny, Iowa, Sherry L. Linton of Waukesha, Jack W. Linton of Phoenix, Ariz., and Brenda S. Linton of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip (Martha) Meyer of Wonder Lake, Ill. She is also survived by nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sally J. Osteen; and one grandson, Nicholas Krawczyk.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Bethel Baptist Church, 2411 Weeden Creek Road, Sheboygan. The Rev. Dan Babbel, pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
