Depression support group forming

Mental Health America is offering a free, six-week support group for any adult currently receiving treatment for depression through a family doctor, therapist, or psychiatrist.

The Health and Hope Support Group will meet once each week from 9 – 10:30 a.m. in the community meeting room of the United Way building, 2020 Erie Ave., Sheboygan beginning Tuesday, Jan. 12 and running through Feb. 16, 2010.

Rachel Gretebeck, a therapist with BridgePoint Health in Sheboygan, will facilitate the group.

In order to participate, individuals must be at least 18 years of age, complete a one-page registration form, and be receiving professional help for depression from a family doctor or mental health professional. The group is meant to serve as an additional resource to individuals, not to replace the professional help they are receiving.

Participants can expect a safe place to talk about issues, receive support from others, and gather useful information about overcoming depression. For additional information about the support group or to request a one-page registration form, call Mental Health America at 920-458-3951.

Mental Health America is a United Way affiliated organization that has been promoting good mental health in Sheboygan County for 46 years. More information can be found at the organization’s Web site www.mhasheboygan.org.
