Sheriff’s Report – Nov. 30

Several fire departments responded to a home in the town of Scott after a cellular 911 call was made to the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department reporting a fire at 1:39 p.m. Nov. 28.

The home at W9131 County D was significantly damaged after a fire in the fireplace got out of control. According to the news release, the homeowner, Frank Hetzel, was not home when the fire broke out but another adult resident was there.

Sheriff’s officers, along with the Beechwood, Batavia, Kewaskum, and Boltonville fire departments responded to the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Embers from a wood-burning stove were the suspected cause of a second house fire in the town of Scott within a three-day period.

On Monday, Nov. 30, at 12:14 a.m. the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call reporting the fire at W9215 Brazelton Drive. The first responding Sheriff’s deputy reported that all the occupants were out of the residence.

Batavia and Beechwood fire departments were also dispatched – they were assisted by Silver Creek, Kewaskum, and Boltonville fire departments, as well as Batavia First Responders. Due to ice forming on the roadway, the Sheboygan County Highway Department was also dispatched to the scene.

The basement of the home sustained significant damage due to the fire, and the upper floor sustained heavy smoke damage. No one was injured.
