JONATHAN B. WALVOORD
Jonathan B. Walvoord, 64, of W1406 Foster Road, Oostburg, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 3, 2009, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay following complications from a stroke.
Jon was born April 9, 1945 in Sheboygan, son of Lewis and Bernice (Hesslink) Walvoord. He was a 1963 graduate of Oostburg High School.
He faithfully served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 27 years until 2005.
Jon also worked in the maintenance department for Tecumseh Die Cast for 39 years and the Kohler Co. for three years until his retirement in 2007.
Jon was a member of the Sauk Trail Conservation Club, and the Pine Beach Boat Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, bowling, stock car racing and cutting wood. Jon was always eager to help anyone in need.
Survivors include two sons, Michael “Scotty” (Tanya) Walvoord of Oostburg and Jeremy “JJ” (Tracy) Walvoord of Howards Grove; two grandchildren, Tyler and Victoria “Peanut” Walvoord and a step granddaughter, Josephine Duening; one sister, Ruth Ann (LeRoy) Pasket of Sheboygan; one brother, David (Janet) Walvoord of Oostburg; and one brother-in-law, Warren (Mary) Theune of Oostburg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends. Jon was considered an “adopted Dad” to many of Scotty’s and JJ’s friends.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Lou Theune.
Funeral service was held Monday morning, Dec. 7, at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial took place at Oostburg Cemetery.
