The 2009 Sheboygan Falls Falcons football team, which finished 4-5 overall, handed out several special awards at its season-ending banquet Sunday, Dec. 6, at Range Line Inn in Sheboygan Falls.
Falcons head coach Mike Nikson thanked the players for a great season and for their hard work on and off the field.
“We had a great year, but injuries held us back from seeing how good this team could have been,” said Nikson. “I’m looking forward to see many of these players on the field next season.”

Senior Adam Lorenz won the Offensive Player of the Year Award. The Special Teams Award went to senior Dakota Meanor. The Scout Teams Award was given to senior Jared Ertman and the Lineman of the Year Award was handed out to senior Spencer Hurlburt.

Fitness Awards were given to Tenpas, junior Jason Fenner and junior Peter Heinen.
Iron Falcon awards went to Tenpas, freshman Drew Setzer, Jacob Tenpas, Tyler Chappa, sophomore Tyler Testroete, Ryan Krist and junior Ryan Fillafer.
The Tammy Kregel Friends of Falcon Football Award honored Rich Roelse and John and Jean Blattner for their work with the Falcon Gold Card, which raised $7,500 this season for Falcon football equipment.
The junior varsity went 2-7, as a combined team of freshmen and sophomores this season.
“These guys played with the intensity needed to compete at the next level,” said JV coach Terry Rotter.
Rotter felt the team started strong and improved each week. He thought that holding Plymouth to only two touchdowns in the first half turned out to be one of the Falcons’ better games of the season.
“We played well on defense and special teams,” stated Rotter. “I challenge the kids to get stronger in the weight room and to keep working hard.”
