St. Nick’s hosted St. Nicholas
More than 200 children and adults attended “A Visit with St. Nicholas” at St. Nicholas Hospital Dec. 5. This annual holiday tradition celebrated the feast of the hospital’s patron saint, St. Nicholas, and his spirit of giving to children in need.
Each child was encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or winter apparel to present to St. Nicholas, resulting in the collection of 85 toys as well as over 300 hats, scarves and mittens. Gifts and winter apparel will be donated to local service agencies for distribution to children in need in the community.
Dressed in his traditional red mantle and carrying a crook, St. Nicholas greeted children and passed out treats. Festivities also included refreshments and performances by a children’s choir from St. Dominic Catholic School and a choir from St. Peter Claver Parish.
