Getting all dolled up

New Falls store specializes in all things dolls

As one of the only businesses in the area focused specifically on doll making, accessories and repairs, Dawn’s Doll Emporium and More has filled a unique market niche since its inception in 2005.

Currently in just its second full week of operation, the business is the newest edition to the vibrant downtown Sheboygan Falls business district.

Store owner Dawn Beyersdorf opened business in Elkhart Lake in 2005, after working out of her home since 2002.

Beyersdorf said her moderate interest in dolls grew to a full blown passion by chance.

“I was never really that into dolls, but things changed about 7 or 8 years ago, when I saw a doll on the Internet that interested me.

“When I saw the price tag, I thought I could set out to make one, instead of paying $500 for someone else to do it,” she said.

Once others began to see her highly detailed, top quality work, the request started to roll in.

“People began to notice when my son took the doll to school,” Beyersdorf said. “There was someone at my son’s school who wanted to see what the doll looked. Once he brought it to school, several people came to me requesting that I make dolls for them.”
