KIEL – The Sheboygan Falls Falcons outscored the Kiel Raiders 29-8 in the second half on the way to a 54-25 victory Thursday, Dec. 10, in Eastern Wisconsin Conference girls basketball action.

Falls improves to 2-0 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference (3-0 overall), while Kiel drops to 0-2 in the EWC (0-3 overall).

The Falcons fell behind early in the first quarter, before freshman Staci Hasler came off the bench to spark the Falcons.

Hasler hit two 3-pointers to push the Falcons to a lead 15-12. Falls never trailed the rest of the way.

“Hasler continues to be strong off the bench,” said Falcons coach Leroy Hamilton. “She has been tough on defense also.”

The Falcons tightened their defense the rest of the way, holding Kiel to 8-for-40 shooting from the floor, while creating 17 steals. Hasler and junior Brooke Buehler collected five steals each to lead the Falls’ defense.

The tenacious Falcons’ defense caused the Raiders to commit 23 turnovers.

Falcons senior captain Lauren Carman led the team in scoring with 16 points, including shooting 7-of-9 from the free-throw line to go along with 11 rebounds. Hasler finished with 11 points.

It was Carman’s third double-double of the season. “We played a good game overall, but I’d be happier with a better start,” remarked Hamilton. “We were able to rotate everybody in off the bench.”
