SCHRC adds three new books
The Sheboygan County Historical Research Center in Sheboygan Falls, has just received a new shipment of the book “
An Old Fashioned Christmas: Tinsel, Gingerbread Men and Billie the Brownie,” by Rochelle Pennington.
Readers will take a nostalgic glance backward to a period of time when rotary-dialed telephones, cloth diapers, percolating coffee pots and spices purchased from the Watkins man were a part of daily life.
The book is filled with many local photos of memories of the holidays. Also available is “
The Home Front,” a retrospective volume of life during World War II.
It captures the patriotism, the team spirit and the sacrifice shared by all Sheboygan County citizens, during the war. Newspaper articles, editorials, images and maps bring to mind the reality of life during the 1940s.
Also, new to the Research Center is “
The Green Steed,” by Betsy Jones Michael, a memoir about a woman and her bicycle and her discovery of herself and the world.
Other items at the SCHRC are available for up to 40-percent off. The SCHRC, located at 518 Water St., is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
