Rams torch Elkhart defense

RANDOM LAKE – Random Lake scorched the nets for 55-percent shooting from the field to key a 78- 59 dismantling of the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters here Tuesday night.

The Resorters fell to 1-3 in the Central Lakeshore Conference boys basketball race (1-3 overall). The Rams improved to 1-3 in the CLC (2-3 overall).

Random Lake broke the game open by shooting a sizzling 69 percent (18 of 26) from the floor in the second half in outscoring Elkhart 45-34. Andy Pohl exploded for all 18 of his team-high points – mostly on inside baskets – to spark the Rams’ attack in the half.

Quin Holeman busted loose for 13 of his 15 points in the final half for the Rams.

The Rams sank seven three-point shots and also featured a strong inside game.

“We need to work on playing defense. We need to realize that we work as a team, defensively,” said Resorter head coach Jeremy Harrison.

“Random Lake played really well. It’s tough if a team has seven guys that hit a three-pointer.

“Jon Petrie played well in the post. We did fine on offense,” Harrison said. Dane Blake of Elkhart netted a game-high 20 points. Blake also led his team in rebounds with eight and steals, three. Travis Kosnicki led in assists with eight and Ryan Zareczny had seven – both career bests.
