Coalition seeks bids to build intergenerational center
The Plymouth Intergenerational Coalition has begun advertising for bids to construct the Plymouth Intergenerational Center.
The 29,400-square foot two-story building will be located on a seven-acre site at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Douglas Drive.
The center will house the Family Resource Centers of Sheboygan County, the Head Start program for Plymouth, the Plymouth Senior Center, Growing Generations Child Care and Parents Plus.
It would provide for interaction between all generations of users along with a dedicated separate program and meeting space for each agency. It will include public spaces and will foster public programs in conjunction with the school district and public and governmental agencies.
Construction bids will be opened Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Plymouth City Hall.
This will be the next step in a project which began more than a decade ago to build one of the first such intergenerational centers in the nation.
Donations are still being accepted for the project. Information on donating to the project is available online at plymouthintergenerational.org or at (920) 892-4858.
