LAVERNE KAISER
LaVerne H. Kaiser, 84, of Elkhart Lake, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2009 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan.
She is the former LaVerne Gebhard, born Aug. 2, 1925 in Kiel, daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Schultz) Gebhard.
On Aug. 14, 1943, LaVerne married Wallace H. Kaiser at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1986.
LaVerne was a Red Cross volunteer at the Health Room at Elkhart Lake Grade School for many years. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel.
LaVerne was happiest spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her son in his semi, playing cards, doing puzzles, being outside, doing yard sales. She also loved polka music and dancing, shopping with her daughter, gardening – especially flowers and sitting by the campfires.
Survivors include her three children: Wayne (Marjorie) Kaiser of Glenbeulah, Nancy Gamez of Plymouth and Wallace (Cindy) Kaiser of New Holstein; her grandchildren: Wendy Kaiser and special friend, Don Glaubig; Jennifer and Joseph Kaiser; Chris (Beth) Miller; Larry (Tomi) Miller; Dusty (Robin) Miller; Bradford Miller; Brian (Ashley) Kaiser; Robert Kaiser and special friend, Shana Lackershire; Shannon (Amber) Denkins, Shawna Voigt and special friend, DuWayne Woodside; Michael (Kimberly) Denkins and Matthew (Darcy) Denkins; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Allison “Lefty” (Beatrice “Mickey”) Gebhard of New Holstein; two sisters, Kathleen Tewelis of Greenfield and Ethel Schreiber of Kiel; and sister-in-law, Janet Gebhard of Sheboygan.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Kaiser; two grandchildren, Michael and Nathan Miller; son-in-law, Lawrence Miller; brother; Kenneth Gebhard; and brothers-in-law, Frederick Schreiber and Robert (Elmira) Kaiser.
Funeral Mass for LaVerne will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Loren Nys, SDS and Parish Director Joe Zenk officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 Sixth St., Kiel, on Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when we will have brief family rites. Parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
